About Ananthapuri CDC

Ananthapuri Child Development Centre was established in Thiruvananthapuram in 2018 by Arya J Kumar, speech-language pathologist. Before founding the centre she practised in paediatric neurology at the Sree Chitra Tirunal Institute for Medical Sciences and Technology, an Institute of National Importance.

The centre brings nine disciplines together under one roof: developmental assessment, speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, behavioural therapy and psychological support, special education, parent counselling, adolescent support, and teleconsultation with remote follow-up. Since 2018 it has supported more than two thousand children aged 4 months to 18 years.

Every child follows the same structured pathway. Assessment is conducted by senior therapists; a multidisciplinary panel is convened for each child before any plan is written; and within three working days the plan and the detailed written report are handed to parents in person at a counselling session. Parents and therapists then share responsibility for progress, with structured activities continuing at home between sessions.

We do not have a consulting paediatrician at the centre. Where a medical opinion would help, we say so clearly and advise on the appropriate specialist. Therapy is delivered in Malayalam, English, Tamil and Hindi.
